+ This position is located in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. This is a (3) 12 hour position with some Saturdays. 7:30 AM to 7:30PM No Nights, No Holidays, No Call Position Purpose The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing any combination of the following duties under direction of physician to assist in examination and treatment of patients. Essential Functions and Basic Duties: Primary Duties o Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height. o Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician. o Record patients' medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records. o Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician. o Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing. o Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients. o Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections and removing sutures. o Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies as directed by the physician. o Prepare treat rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. o Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. o Schedule appointments for patients. o Change dressings on wounds. o Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests and/or admission. o Perform general office duties such as answering telephones, taking dictation and completing insurance forms. o Inventory and order medical, lab and office supplies and equipment. o Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses. o Set up medical laboratory equipment. o Positive and supportive team member to staff members, clinic and hospital. o Strive to ensure continual compliance with Departmental and Hospital Policies and Procedures and State/Federal Regulations. o Can identify & access system to report abuse to employee and/or patients. o Performs routine to moderately difficult assessment/treatment procedures such as EKG's, venipuncture, cholesterol, holder monitors, ultrasounds, audiometers, blood pressure stress tests, ambulatory monitors, glucose screenings, hematocrits, etc. o Attend required medical in-service training as needed. o Performs other duties as assigned. o Maintain compliance with departmental, hospital and state and federal regulations and policies. o Working knowledge of the phone o Follows policy and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management. o Completes maintenance work orders appropriately. o Participates in Disaster Drills, demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness. o Respects the confidentiality of patient records, and uses complete dis creation when discussing patient information. o Utilizes all department form appropriately. o Able to identify victims and the process for reporting abuse. o Able to apply National Patient Safety goals to care and documentation. o Collect, label and transport all specimens appropriately. o Demonstrates knowledge of routine equipment. o Demonstrates proper techniques when setting up for procedures. o Demonstrates knowledge of emergency equipment and procedures. o Collaborates with patient care planning o Ability to gather resources within the hospital and clinic to provide adequate care. o Active participation in education specific to patient diagnosis and need. o Acts as a resource person to other staff members. o Participates in Code Blue Drills and other emergency codes. o Able to assess the geriatric patient for safety, medication dosage and appropriateness. o Able to translate medications into pediatric doses and use proper equipment for patient's size and age. o Act as a liaison between patients, families, physicians and staff. o Complete workload assignments. o Respect the confidentiality of patient records and uses complete discretion when discussing patient information. Secondary Duties o Demonstrates 100% commitment to performing according to the CHOICE values of TMH and representing the organization in a positive and professional manner. o Establishes and maintains effective communication and good working relationships with all co?workers. o Adheres to TMH and department dress code policies and procedures. o Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated; manages activity and time. o Completes annual education, training, in-service, and certification requirements; attends departmental staff meetings or reads meeting minutes. o Maintains regulatory requirements. o Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. o Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated times. o Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. o Strives to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state and federal regulations and policies. o Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to ensure a safe environment for patients, public and staff. Qualifications: Education/Certifications: o High School Diploma or GED o Current valid Driver's License o Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Course o Must be Registered or Certified o Current certification in CPR required Knowledge Required: Experience Required: o Up to one year experience with patients in a clinic setting required. Skills/Abilities: Work Environment: Work is performed in a clinical setting and may include Equipment Used: o Computer o Telephone o Fax Machine o Copy Machine o Basic Office Equipment o X-Ray Machine o Electrocardiograph (EKG), o Other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
