+ Position Purpose: The Perioperative Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to the neonate through geriatric patient population in the Surgical Services Department. Essential Functions and Basic Duties: Primary Duties Clinical Adapts nursing care plans, diagnosis and interventions to meet the needs for treatment of individual neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and protect patient's sensitivities and right to privacy. Protects patient's sensitivities and right to privacy. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families Identifies physiologic, mental and behavioral symptoms, changes and takes appropriate actions in a timely manner. Demonstrates ability to assess cardio-respiratory systems for changes in pediatric to geriatric patients and is able to treat appropriately. Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of dysrhythmias, followed by appropriate treatment. Adequately assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management. Documents appropriately. Coordinates and supervises all patient care. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Formulates a teaching plan, based upon identified learning needs, and evaluates the effectiveness of learning; includes family in teaching, as appropriate. Utilizing AIDET, provide patient and family with explanation and verbal reassurance constantly. Carries out established techniques for safe, age-appropriate administration of medications and parenteral fluids, as per hospital policies and procedures. Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors: Right patient Right medication Right dose Right time and frequency Right route of administration Right documentation Utilizes automated medication dispensing system (PYXIS) to appropriately remove, charge, return, and waste medications. Wastes controlled medications under witness of another RN or anesthesia provider. Demonstrates ability to perform and interpret waived testing (point-of-care testing) per policies and procedures; take appropriate action on waived tests results. Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of anatomy, pathophysiology, disease processes, and surgical interventions while providing care. Clearly and consistently documents relevant data. Completes all documentation within the shift. Meets current standards and policies and procedures related to documentation. Utilizes SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendations) when communicating with members of the healthcare team during patient care transfers. Day Surgery Coordinates and completes PAT (pre-admission teaching) with every patient and documents PAT in chart. Assist in managing Surgical Services schedule by: Managing block schedule and patient arrival times Contacting patient's provider relating to scheduling orders and other pertinent information Assembles patient's charts in a timely manner Communicates closely with anesthesia regarding patient's test results, history and patient status to assist in planning anesthesia care delivery Provides monthly facility training to patients and caregivers (ex: total joint class, etc.) Adheres to AORN (Association of perioperative Registered Nurses) standards, ASPAN (Association of Peri-Anesthesia Nurses) standards and recommended practices and all policies of TMH and Surgical Services department. Performs preoperative head-to-toe assessment on neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Reassesses patients postoperatively. Ensures Preoperative Verification is complete (H&P present, informed consent signed, test results present, surgical site identified, etc.) before patient is taken into surgical suite. Actively participates in the Universal Protocol for every surgical/invasive/endoscopic procedure. Correct patient identity Correct side and site Correct procedure Correct patient position Availability of correct implants, if applicable Availability of correct equipment and/or special requirements Verbalization of all patient allergies. Appropriately responds to the patient in an emergency situation. Demonstrates emergency interventions following Advanced Cardiac Life Support algorithms, Pediatric Advanced Life Support algorithms, and policies and procedures. Gives thorough report of patient's preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative condition to receiving nurse (PACU, Day Surgery, Medical/Surgical, SCU, etc). Ability to manage postoperative recovery in PACU Phase I and Phase II on neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Verbalizes understanding of Malignant Hyperthermia (MH). Demonstrates appropriate intervention for a MH event. Verbalizes understanding of local anesthetic toxicity. Demonstrates appropriate intervention for local anesthetic toxicity. Performs all duties of the Day Surgery Nurse and other duties as assigned. Secondary Duties Demonstrates 100% commitment to performing according to the CHOICE values of TMH and representing the organization in a positive and professional manner. Establishes and maintains effective communication and good working relationships with all co?workers. Adheres to TMH attire/dress code per policies and procedures. Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated; manages activity and time. Completes annual education, training, in-service, and certification requirements; attends departmental staff meetings or reads meeting minutes. Maintains regulatory requirements. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated times. Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. Strives to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state and federal regulations and policies. Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to ensure a safe environment for patients, public and staff. Participates in mandatory in-service and staff meetings. Qualifications: Education/Certifications Graduate of an accredited nursing program Current licensure by the State of Colorado Board of Nursing required or compact state as an RN Current BLS CPR Certification required Current ACLS Certification required within 1 year of hire Current PALS or ENPC Certification required within 1 year of hire Current TNCC Certification required within 1 year of hire Valid Colorado Driver's License required CNOR certification preferred Knowledge: Operation knowledge of all aspects of the Surgical Services Department Demonstrates knowledge of airway management and ability to utilize airway management equipment and supplies Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to the patient population served. Interprets data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group Demonstrates thorough knowledge of location, care, and operation of all Day Surgery equipment Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a hospital staff nurse preferred (prefer med-surg, ER, critical care) Previous OR experience preferred Skills/Abilities: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English Additional languages encouraged Comprehensive computer knowledge Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms Manage stress appropriately, handle multiple priorities and make decisions under pressure Work Environment: Minimum of 36 hours clinical shifts each week PreOp & Post Op staging area, PACU Equipment: o All equipment utilized in the Surgical Services Department, including clerical and medical equipment Mandatory Training & Involvement: SWANK Education Safety In-Service Annual Competencies NIMS Training: IS-100Hcb and IS-700A Staff Meetings Infection Control Hazardous Materials CHOICE Values AIDET + P LEAN training ISO-9001

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
