+ Position Purpose: The Patient Access Representative I is responsible for registering patients in a timely, courteous and efficient manner. The incumbent obtains all necessary forms, consents and signatures as required for business and billing purposes. Essential Functions and Basic Duties: Positive and supportive team member to PFS Department. Participates in interdepartmental process improvements and process evaluation efforts. Attends staff meetings and participates in mandatory in-services. Acts as an internal consultant and educator to hospital staff in areas of expertise. Strive to ensure continual compliance with Departmental and Hospital Policies and Procedures and State/Federal Regulations. Can identify and access system to report abuse to employees and/or patients. Adheres to policies and procedures for infection control, safety and risk management. Obtain and verify patient information. Answer and direct incoming calls. Accurately admits/registers patients for all services performed at TMH. Process all returned mail. Track and balance miscellaneous accounts. Processing of miscellaneous accounts. Completion of miscellaneous reports. Collection of co-pays and deductibles per procedures. Public Relations: receives, greets, and directs patients by phone or in person. Takes accurate messages. Respect the confidentially of patient records and uses complete discretion when discussion patient information. Act as a liaison between patient, families, physicians and care team. Proficient in the use of equipment pertaining to the job. Prioritizes workload and completes assignments within allotted time. Works as a team with co-workers. Establishes a good rapport and working relationship with other departments. Answer and/or investigate all questions received from patients regarding their bills. Assist in maintaining charges. Coordinates insurance, preauthorization, benefits verification and pre-registration activities. Educate patients for financial assistance. Reconciling medical/clinical system with manual records. Proficient in the duties in both outpatient and Emergency Departments. Assists in orientation of new employees. Shares in organizing schedule. Performs other duties as assigned. Establishes and maintains effective communication and good working relationships with all co?workers. Adheres to MRH and department dress code policies and procedures. Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated; manages activity and time. Completes annual education, training, in-service, and certification requirements; attends departmental staff meetings or reads meeting minutes. Maintains regulatory requirements. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated times. Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. Strives to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state and federal regulations and policies. Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to ensure a safe environment for patients, public and staff. Qualifications: Education/Certifications: High School graduate or equivalent. Valid Colorado Driver's License Valid CPR Certification (must be obtained within 90 days) Knowledge Recommended: Medical Terminology. Experience Required: Business Office Applications. Data entry experience Skills/Abilities: General knowledge of all Microsoft Office products. CPSI Experience Typing speed of a minimum of 25 WPM Work Environment: Employee will work in environment that is constantly interrupted and being able to multi-task as needed. This position requires sitting for extended periods of time and requires working with a wide variety of personalities in a pleasant manner. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
