POSITION SUMMARY Contributes to the Human Resources Department at Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation (SSRC) by influencing, supporting & facilitating the processes of the HR department, with a focus on employee relations, onboarding, and employee uniforms through the HR Satellite Office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIESGeneral ResponsibilitiesReceive, evaluate, investigate and respond appropriately to employee and manager workplace concerns under the guidance of the HR DirectorConduct investigations of complaints and recommend corrective actionsPartner with HR Director &/or Alterra Mountain Company legal and HR teams on complex employee relations issuesProvide guidance and counsel to employees on employee relations issues and workplace practicesAdvise management and leadership on employee relations related initiatives and trendsServe as the point of contact on fundamental HR issues and questionsOversight of the termination process and works with HRD on facilitating manager training.
Ensure all involuntary terminations are handled appropriatelyMaintain employee relations through an open-door policy.
Be alert to indicators of employee dissatisfactions and contribute to the effort for improvementDetermine a process for addressing internal complaints and employee concerns within 48 hours of learning of the issue.
Immediately contact or communicate with the employees in questionManage the employee uniform program and the employees of the Uniform Room Ensure that onboarding activities are completed in accordance with SSSRC processes and designated timelinesParticipate in HR Administrative tasks, including seasonal ramp up and ramp down processesMonitor and respond to FreshService ticketing system as neededSupervise the department's specialist and support staff and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on timeEstablishes a strong front of house HR team of Specialists who troubleshoot ID issues, enhance systems knowledge and surpasses the expectations of the applicant and employee.
Oversight of all job offers, Workday (HRIS System) hire actions and onboarding processes by reinforcing established best practices while continually searching for improved processesSupervises the background check process and audits by directing HR SpecialistsSupervises the E-Verify process by directing the HR SpecialistsWorks with the appropriate parties to minimize pay out of claims through employment hearings by compiling accurate and detailed documentationMaintain employee records through all HRIS systems available while exploring efficiencies across the processesMaintains employee confidence and protects the operations by ensuring information is confidential.
Certified HIPAA credential will be maintainedConsult with HR Director on Strategic initiatives by serving as a link between the organization's management and its employeesMaintain quality service by following organizations standards, while weighing efficiency and practically against the normal standards.

Experience:

years of Human Resources experience preferably in Resort/Hospitality setting.
Previous leadership experience required, no less than one year.
Experience with employee relations & workplace investigations required.
Experience with Workday highly desired.
PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
PAYThe base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation salary range for this position.
Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on a range of factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel.
The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives.
Steamboat area base salary range:
$72,000 - $75,000 per year plus up to 10% bonus opportunityPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
